Are You Ready?

Or are You dreading Puppy Cabin Fever with Holidays and Winter Weather?

Puppies of 3 to 5 months

Get started with socialization and very basic manners.  This is the very best time for learning how to learn!  It’s the magic age!  Don’t wait for bad habits to fix. Learn to rush to the Crate or Puppy Room when a doorbell rings instead of running to jump on Grandma.  Begin meeting strangers and other dogs and working on good habits without adult expectations.  Best of all, Have fun while learning.

Preregister for six week small group class at $80.  If your circumstance calls for a private session or a single it will be $65 for the first session.

Call Leslie at (757) 657 9067 to find your special space and get started.

Beginner Class or Basic (age over 6 months)

You and Your Dog move Onward with polite behaviors – from Sit, Come, Stay and Leave It to the tools we use to pass AKCs Good Citizen Evaluation.  Don’t worry.  We’ll have fun and work on that run to the Puppy Place when the doorbell rings with these Pups, too.  Basic starts with Dog learning to pay attention and leave something alone when told.  Like Puppy class, it’s fun tricks and games besides the sit and lie down and go for a walk.  Maybe not all is as fun and easy as a younger puppy, and you have to practice, but this is the basis of all we do with our dogs.  Remember, manners might make us more welcome when we get to go anywhere… and it’s more fun to walk if Dog isn’t pulling like a wild thing!.

Then some practice gets us ready for that Canine Good Citizen test.  Have you and your dog done yours lately?  Did you get to join the STAR Puppy program AKC is offering? That’s the start.  Pick up a CGC flyer or go to the AKC web site.  Call and ask Leslie….

In case there’s a barky-growly attitude with strange dogs (or others),  Hey!  You are not alone.  Been there!  Ask about a very small class or private session before you try a class.

Don’t forget we have Vicki’s out in Suffolk and sometimes Saturday Basic at Family Dog Club…  We can do things outside that just aren’t practical confined into a room….

And “Continuing Education” .  continues…Still a good way to get out with your dog and practice good manners around other dogs and people!.  Still Family Dog Club on Saturday mornings!  Still $15 per session and still for people who’ve been through Basic (and I already have your info & release sheet in the book)

December 6 we plan the CGC practice and evaluations…

Starting with “regular obedience” and Rally – currently planning toward UKC as well as AKC Novice, some of the advanced work, and FreeStyle, maybe any work we still really need on those CGCs.

Carting practice is on the side, by arrangement, or carting class can follow CE class.

Tell me what you want because these days are intended to be useful for those who attend!  Do we want to change from 9:00 to 10:00 in the winter when we are on “Standard” time?  Also tell me if you want to be on the “call if we cancel for weather” list…Make sure I have an “Info and Release” sheet for you (from earlier class is fine)

We already know NO Saturday morning class on December 13.  Go to the Show!
